Kuala Lumpur, 24 March 2008 - Competency in managing one’s personal finances is a subject much talked about today. As credit card debts in this country escalates to an alarming double digits in billions , this topic has gained much attention.
One company , My MONEY TREE Sendirian Berhad, believes it may have a long term solution. Over the past 10 months, its Money Tree Programme, has exposed hundreds of school children to financial issues such the impact of inflation through more complex topics like futures and commodities.
The programme offers 3 levels of curriculum – Junior, Apprentice and Entrepreneur- boasts of a complete hands on simultaion comprising proprietary currency, credit cards, banking system and stock market sessions. Highly interactive lessons are taught with the ad of hand held response systems and animated news movie clips to add to the fun factor.
The key to the this programme is it’s effective learning model through various interactive scenarios and a simulated ‘mini economy’ in which earning, spending, saving and investing are part of the syllabus.
Last week, two teams of secondary students aged between 12- 17 edged other teams comprising varsity students at a Business Game organised by AIESEC Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, to be placed among the TOP 5 teams. Both teams were trained under the Money Tree program. A total of 27 teams participated in the event named “Entrepreneur & Youth : A Learning Network”.
Recognising both the need for such programmes and the comprehensive coverage of the MONEYTREE Programme, OPEN UNIVERSITY of MALAYSIA (OUM) – School of Lifelong Learning has agreed to award certifications to participants of the programme . These certifcates would ultimately form part of the required course work for some programmes offered by OUM.
As part of its programme, Money Tree is offering graduates from its Entrepreneur programme, an opportunity to receiving financing for their business ideas. Students, who may still be in their teens would be trained and nurtured into developing businesses, under the supervision of appointed experts

I registered for this site - Moola.com recently. What I like about this site is that you get to earn money by pitching your skills against online competitors. At the same time, if you wish, you can also earn by buying stuff online. Better still, you earn by referring your friends to be a member.
Right now, Moola is still in the BETA stage. Registration is free.
I find that when I am tired of working on my laptop, I could play a few games and earn some money. What an interesting truth to know that 1 penny can transform into USD10 million in 30 days! If you can bring yourself to believe it, check out the site by clicking on the logo shown.

This is an interesting and inspiring story sent to me by my friend, Sandor Paskucz of Romania. I would say that none should miss reading it at least once. It does make plenty of sense.
